VISITOR POLICY

Parents and guardians are encouraged to visit schools and meet with teachers and administrators about their child’s progress. Visitors to Lawton must present themselves to the school office or have standing permission from the principal. To provide safe and orderly learning environments, each visitor to public school buildings or grounds must receive authorization from the school principal or his/her designee.

Community and Parent Volunteers in our School:

Any parent/guardian or community member who wishes to volunteer their time helping support our staff and students at Henry Lawton School MUST have proper clearances first.  Please click the link for more information Family and Community Engagement

Communication:

At Lawton, we use ClassDoJo as one form of communication with parents.  This is a FREE app for parents!  To connect to Lawton School and your child’s teacher/children’s teacher’s via DoJo, you DO NOT pay anything.  Some families do decide they would like to use the home version of ClassDoJo which requires monthly payments.

Attention families:

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), a Federal law, requires that a school with certain exceptions obtain your written consent prior to the disclosure of personally identifiable information from your child’s education records. However, a school may disclose appropriately designated “directory information” without written consent, unless you have advised the school to the contrary in accordance with school district procedures.

Parents who wish to opt their students out of directory information releases must complete an Opt-Out Form for each of their students, and must return each form to the school at which each student is enrolled by December 13, 2024.
